Deep Fried Arrowhead (Qi Ku)

Arrowhead - wash and rinse
Use a small knife and shave off the skin of each bulb
Get a slicer ready
Slice the bulbs thinly
Deep fry over small fire

My first time frying arrowhead by myself.. super time-consuming.. and super heaty! it's no wonder why that small bottle of chips is retailing for so much in shops.. the cost of doing this is not expensive but the time and effort spent is kinda beyond words (to me at least!)..

Peach Cheesecake

bits of peaches were added to the cheese layer but the taste isn't quite there.. i faced the same problem with the mandarin orange cheesecake.. but overall, the cake still tasted nice :)

Coffee Flavoured Cookies

Tried this at the request of a friend.. replaced 2 tbsp of flour with 2 tbsp of instant coffee powder..

Deep Fried Crab Sticks

A snack commonly found during CNY period in the recent years.. the crab sticks were thawed overnight before i deep-fried them.. not as tasty as i expected them to be.. not that crunchy too.. not to mention, deep-frying processed food??? super unhealthy! nonetheless, i finished the whole lot myself :)

Handmade Popsicle

Dad wanted ice-cream but there was none in the fridge and we were both too lazy to get out of the house to get some.. we have tons of orange in the fridge and a popsicle mould.. so voila! ice lolly made from freshly squeezed orange juice!

Spinach Fettuccine in Tomato Cream Sauce

I was reading this the other day and decided to try one of the recipes there.

So I tried the Pasta with Tomato Cream Sauce.

Modified it a little and here're the ingredients I used for my tomato cream sauce:
* tomato paste
* cooking cream
* garlic
* pasta water
* dried italian mixed herbs
* salt
* ground mixed peppers

didn't state any proportions 'cause i just added each ingredient to taste.. i ended up with leftover sauce so i have refrigerated the balance.. probably cook another lot tomorrow..

note to self: 30 strands of fettuccine for 1 serving of pasta

Piped Cookies

This uses the same recipe as the swirl cookies..  except i piped the dough into flowers.. not as nice as i expected it to be.. the swirl pattern looks nicer..

swirl - 1M tip
flower - 2D tip

Swirl Biscuits

Recipe adapted from: http://iambaker.net/rose-neapolitan-spritz-cookies/

I know it looks nothing like the original but I'll try piping with a 2D tip next time.. hopefully I'll be able to get the same pretty rose shape!

Actually the biscuit tasted better after it turned browner.. the baked pink cookies you see in the pictures above, i felt were slightly undone.. so i popped them into the oven again for another 5 mins till they turn slightly tanned (last 2 pictures).. it tasted better though not as visually appealing as before..
